TIDES OF HISTORY

Inha Works traces its origins back to 1841 when Erik Gustaf Roschier received permission to manufacture iron by the Inhanjoki river. A decade later, real industrial activity began with support from Gustaf August Wasastjerna. Industrial activity gained real momentum in 1884, when renowned industrialist August Nilsson Keirkner began to develop the factories and built a steam sawmill, a steel foundry, a horseshoe workshop, and a bolt and rivet workshop, marking a turning point for Inha Works.

In 1955, the introduction of aluminum for boat construction, pioneered at Kellokoski Works, was a game-changer. These aluminum boats, known as Kello boats, quickly gained popularity. In 1973, production shifted to Inha Works, solidifying its place in the industry.

Altogether, over 130,000 Buster and Kello aluminum boats have been manufactured over the years, many of which are still in use today. Even some of the older Kello models from the 1950s can still be spotted on the water, which is a testament to their durability and quality.

During its time under Fiskars ownership, Inha Works had a diverse range of production, including sheet metal cabinets, hinges, and railway fasteners. However, as the 21st century dawned, the company gradually phased out other productions, such as hinge manufacturing, which was transferred to Abloy. Instead, the focus shifted to the development of aluminum boat production in the historic ironworks area.

In 2016, Yamaha acquired Inha Works, and soon after, the paths of Yamarin and Inha Works intertwined as Yamarin and Yamarin Cross brands joined Inha Works’ fleet in 2017. This strategic move solidified company’s position in the market, providing consumers with a diverse fleet of boats.

Inha Works has a forward-looking vision centered on manufacturing excellence, technological advancements, sustainability, and business growth. Committed to customer satisfaction and fueled by a heritage of craftsmanship, Inha Works is heading towards promising future with marker leading boat brands, new innovative products and as a trusted OEM partner for various industries.
